Jacquelin Rennels-Winegar
May 28, 1939 – Oct. 23, 2015
Jacquelin Winegar, 76, of Prairie City, died Oct. 23 at Blue
Mountain Care Center in Prairie City.
Services are pending.
Mrs. Winegar was born May 28,
1939, in Redmond, to Perry “Tye” Clyde
and Jewel “Jake” Lily Rennels.
In 1962, she married Raymond Win-
egar, with whom she had four sons and
one daughter. They moved to Prairie City
in 1980, where he bought the shingle mill
up Dixie Creek. In 1982, they put a claim
on a gold mine with friends and enjoyed
the claim for a couple years.
She tended bar at the Past Time Tavern for a time, but was a
housewife who enjoyed raising her children. She taught Sunday
school at the Episcopal Church. She also kept all her kids busy with
4-H animals, and started a 4-H sheep club for 9-year-olds. They
went to the rodeo nearly every weekend.
She enjoyed visiting, reading, painting, drawing, fi shing at
Strawberry Lake, working in her rock garden, riding horses, mo-
torcycles and watching TV. She also enjoyed camping and wildlife
adventures – even though she had only packed a rifl e three times
and prayed she wouldn’t see anything. She was Annie Oakley with
a pellet pistol, though, and lived quite the adventurous life.
Survivors include her children, Herbert Carey Dahlen, Jac-
quelin Renel Dahlen-Muro, Kevin Bryan Dahlen, Raymond Tye
Winegar and Richard Todd Winegar; 13 grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Winegar.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain
Care Center through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon
Blvd., John Day, OR 97845.
