Mr. Neal was born Dec. 27, 1919,
at home near Monument, to Frederick
Miles Neal and Virginia Artelia (Dan-
iel) Neal.
He grew up in the Toledo area,
and attended Toledo High School. He
served as an engineer in the Merchant Marines throughout
World War II, circumnavigating the world three times.

Using brick and slate salvaged from the old train station in
Toledo, he and his family built the house where he resided for

Warm and social by nature, he enjoyed ¿ shing, hunting,

included family and friends. He was known for a green thumb
and enjoyed success, especially with apples and, rare for the
central coast, peaches.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Melissa; and his chil-
dren, Linda (Doug) Kendig, Cheryl Neal and David Neal, and
their families.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mike Hartnett,
