Justin Hodge (11 to 12) received Male Swimmer of the Year, earning 122 points and si[ ¿ rst-place medals, 12 second place and eight third place. Zeri and Isaac Janssen, Katie Johnson and Sivanna Hodge were given sportsman- ship awards for their support of not only their own team, but others at the meets. Swimmers Myckee Coalwell, Torie Coalwell, Trevyn Coalwell and Justin Hodge, attended all ¿ ve meets this season and did not dis- qualify in any events – they received Dairy Queen gift cards – so they could have their “DQs,” Waldner said. One of the Most Improved awards went to Shanniyah Hall. “We’re proud of Shan- niyah Hall,” Waldner said. “Last year she took two weeks SHOW Continued from Page B1 drove his ’68 Dodge Palara from Baker to the event. He said it all began the of swimming lessons, and the transformation from her ¿ rst time in the pool to making it to the district meet was amaz- ing.” The athletes have to qual- ify in their event(s) during one away meet and one home meet to participate in the dis- trict meet. Waldner said she was hap- py with all the volunteers who helped at the district meet and the John Day Invitational, which was held the previous week. She noted the only people paid to be at the meet are the coaches. The refer- ees and people helping with hospitality, concessions, re- corders and many others are volunteers. “I’d like to thank all of the volunteers we had for the John Day Swim Meet and dis- trict,” Waldner said. “We had a lot of people putting in full days on both of those events. It’s a big time commitment, and it’s de¿ nitely appreciat- ed,” she said, noting that hav- ing Howard as assistant coach was great. “I think it was bene¿ cial to the kids, and we were able to use time more ef¿ ciently,” she said. She added, “Sign ups will be in spring.” District swim results year after he moved to Prairie City. They held a car show at the Grant County Regional Airport in 1995, then Grant County Kruzers was formed, and the ¿ rst of¿ cial Kruzers car show was held in Prairie City the following year. “It looks great – they’re still doing a great job,” Wolf said. “The same people are still putting in their time and effort on it, and it’s as good as it’s ever been.” Meet Results 31st Cascade East District Championship meet July 31-Aug. 2 Event # 1 Female 200 Free 9-10 Hodge, Sivanna, 2 Hall, Amelia, 3 Event # 2 Male 200 Free 9-10 Coalwell, Ryan, 3 Event # 3 Female 200 Free 11-12 Hodge, Justin, 1 Coalwell, Torie, 1 Event # 6 Male 200 Free 13-14 Hodge, Russell, 1 Event # 7 Female 200 Free 15-18 Waldner, Auna, 3 Event # 8 Male 200 Free 15-18 Hallgarth, Quinten, 3 Event # 10 Male 50 Free 8 & Under 48.23Y F Howard, Cayden 3 50.18Y P Howard, Cayden 2 Event # 11 Female 100 Free 9-10 Hodge, Sivanna, 2 Hodge, Sivanna, 2 Event # 12 Male 100 Free 9-10 Coalwell, Ryan, 3 Coalwell, Ryan, 3 Event # 14 Male 100 Free 11-12 Hallgarth, Quinten, 1 Hodge, Justin, 2 Hodge, Justin, 2 Event # 15 Female 100 Free 13-14 Coalwell, Torie, 1 Coalwell, Torie, 1 Event # 16 Male 100 Free 13-14 Hodge, Russell, 1 Hodge, Russell, 2 Event # 17 Female 100 Free 15-18 Waldner, Auna, 3 Event # 21 Female 50 Breast 9-10 Hall, Amelia, 3 Event # 22 Male 50 Breast 9-10 Coalwell, Ryan, 3 Coalwell, Ryan, 3 Event # 23 Female 50 Breast 11-12 Mead, Rhea, 2 Mead, Rhea, 3 Event # 24 Male 50 Breast 11-12 Hallgarth, Quinten, 1 Hodge, Justin, 2 Hodge, Justin, 3 Event # 25 Female 100 Breast 13-14 Coalwell, Torie, 2 Coalwell, Torie, 1 Event # 26 Male 100 Breast 13-14 Hodge, Russell, 1 Hunt, Taylor, 2 Time F/P/S Relay Place Points Improv Hodge, Russell, 1 Hunt, Taylor, 3 Event # 32 Male 100 IM 9-10 Coalwell, Ryan, 2 Event # 33 Female 100 IM 11-12 Mead, Rhea, 3 Event # 34 Male 100 IM 11-12 Hodge, Justin, 2 Event # 35 Female 200 IM 13-14 Coalwell, Torie, 2 Event # 36 Male 200 IM 13-14 Hunt, Taylor, 3 Event # 37 Female 200 IM 15-18 Waldner, Auna, 2 Relay Race 2:22.20Y F A Relay John Day Swim Team 1 8 Taya Janssen, Olive Hensley, Reece Jacobs, Sierra May, Colbie Howard, Maddie Bailey, Emma Helmick, Lexi Helmick Event # 41 Female 100 Medley Relay10 & Under 1:44.72Y F A Relay John Day Swim Team 1 12 Majik Leigh, Amelia Hall, Laken McKay, Sivanna Hodge Event # 42 Male 100 Medley Relay10 & Under 1:39.12Y F A Relay John Day Swim Team 1 12 Quinn Larson, Ryan Coalwell, Car Show Awards: Best of Show: 1936 Chevy Coupe, Gary Baxter, Baker City People’s Choice: 1971 Dodge Charger, Trever Hamsher, Prairie City Host: 1956 Thunderbird, Jim Clark, Mt.
