Grant County’s 2015
Fair & Rodeo Queen
Hello, my name is Reitta Wyllie, I am the 16-year-old
daughter of Lindsey and Colleen Wyllie. I am proud to
represent Grant County as the 2015 Fair and Rodeo
Queen.
I will be a Junior this Fall at Grant Union Jr. Sr. High
School. I am involved with volleyball, basketball, 4-H,
FFA, Oregon High School Rodeo, Mock Trials and the
Nazarene Youth Group.
I was born and raised here in John Day, where
several of my horses and I have put down many
tracks over the years, competing in the G Lazy 6
Playdays, Cinnabar Mt. Playdays, 4-H and Open
Horse Shows, Oregon High School rodeos and many
parades.
My future plans are to attend college and become
a doctor as a family & general practitioner.
Breeze is the name of my Paint horse that is sharing my experience and we make a great
pair. We have traveled many miles around the state promoting and representing Grant
County and it has been a fulfilling experience, one I am truly thankful to have the opportu-
nity to do. I have met so many new friends and learned much about the other parts of the
state.
As I look back through the archives of people who have been associated with the Grant
County Fair and Rodeo, I find that I am continuing in a tradition of my family. Fair board
members, grand marshals, and queens, run deep in the family background from as far back
as 1953 - from my great-grandfather James Wyllie to the present.
The saddle I ride was given to me by my Aunt Jamie Wyllie Lupien. It was her saddle
when she was Queen in 1983.
I feel honored to carry on the tradition of not only my family, but of the county and the
western way of life. Roots run deep and traditions carry on.
I have never missed attending the Grant County Fair, and I hope you will carry on the tra-
dition, or start one by attending our fair this year!
See you all at this year’s Grant County Fair!
Queen Reitta
