Car Cruise-In on a sunny Sat-
urday, June 13.
Although there were fewer
entrants than usual, the par-
ticipants still showed their
gleaming vehicles with pride.
Winning the coveted Peo-
ple’s Choice award was Trev-
or Hamsher of John Day with
his orange, Dukes of Haz-
zard-style 1970 Dodge Char-
ger.
Brent Drury of Hines
showed a 1931 dark red Chev-
rolet four-door sedan, win-
ning the 30s category.
Drury noted that most of
the body on the vehicle is
made of wood with a thin lay-
er of steel nailed to it.
New to the event were the
Burke brothers, Levi and John
Jr., showing their junior drag-
sters. John also had his 1980
Chevy El Camino on display.
The event included a swap

cooking up burgers with on-
ion and pepper relish.

The Dayville Dash 5K
Run/Walk is coming up Sun-
day, July 5.
Registration for the second
annual event starts at 8 a.m.,
with the race set for 9 a.m.
The cost is $10 a person, plus
$10 for a race souvenir. Those
who preregister by Tuesday,
June 30, will be guaranteed a
souvenir.
Participants can park at the
Dayville School gym, to be
bused up to the starting point
on South Fork Road. Finish
line is at Dayville City Park.
The 5K is part of the
town’s three-day Fourth of
July festivities. Proceeds ben-
