excited to begin their lives in

David Leone Herburger was born on
August 1, 1935, in Burns, Oregon. His
parents were Cedric and Isobelle (Sally
Burnside Herburger).
Dave attended Elementary and three
years of High School at Ashland, and his
senior year at Rogue River High School,
where he played football, basketball,
and ran track. He graduated in 1954.
In his teens, he developed an interest in
rodeos, and soon was preparing to enter
his first rodeo. He did this by putting a
borrowed bareback rigging on his
saddle horse and riding her around the
corral. This paid off when he entered his
first competition. He won a first at
Redmond, on his first attempt. The
“rodeo bug” had bitten, and he was on
his way. Joining the professional ranks,
he traveled throughout the nation and
traveled to Brussels, Belgium to
represent the American Cowboy at the
Worlds’ Fair in 1958.
Dave was married to Carolyn Myers and
has a daughter, Connie Jo. He later
married Carlene Greenwood on July 11,
1961, in Bartlesville, OK. They have two
children, Davey Herburger and Fonda
Woodward.
Dave has four grandsons: Jason, Joseph,
Aaron, and Josh. He has one step-
granson, Jeremy, and one
granddaughter, Tenille. He has five
great-grandchildren.
Dave rodeoed, worked on ranches, and
was a timber faller for his occupation.
Dave is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying
hunting, fishing, and taking in the sights
and sounds of the woods. he loves
family and friends get-togethers and
being a part in those times. He loves
living in Oregon, among his family and
his good friends.
