A2 Family Blue Mountain Eagle E AGLE ON VACATION Wednesday, May 13, 2015 O BITUARIES Conard Russell Johns Jan. 29, 1929 – May 5, 2015 Conard Russell Johns, 86, of Fossil, died May 5 in Fox Valley. A celebration of life was held on May 11. Mr. Johns was born Jan. 29, 1929, on the family ranch in Fox Valley, to Dewey Johns and Goldie Ivy Williams. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years as an airman first-class. On April 20, 1957, he married Wanda Wilson in Mt. Ver- non. After his Air Force service, he worked at Kinzua Corpo- ration. He retired in 1985, after 35 years. He enjoyed reading, crosswords, working on the ranch and family reunions. He will be remembered as a gentle and kind man. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Johns of Fossil; sons, Russell Johns of Bend, Duane Johns of Godley, Texas, and Curtis Johns of Colville, Wash.; daughters, Juanita and Nao- mi Johns of Fossil; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grand- children. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Robert Johns. Memorial contributions may be made to a cancer charity of one’s choice, through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Mrs. Morgan died Dec. 25, 2014, at her La Grande home. She and her husband, Jim, and their family, lived in Prai- rie City before moving to Long Creek where she was a cook at the school for 18 years. Nadine Carr Nadine Carr, 81, died Monday, May 11, at her John Day res- idence. A graveside service will be held at the Canyon City Ceme- tery at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15. Stella Emma Lang March 3, 1929 – April 29, 2015 PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo. – Stella Emma Lang, 86, for- merly of John Day, died April 29, at Pine Ridge Extended Care Center in Pagosa Springs, Colo. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Pagosa Bible Church, 209 Harman Park Dr., Pagosa Springs. Mrs. Lang was born March 3, 1929, in Glenwood Springs, Colo. She and her husband, Ray, lived in Grant County for many years, where they raised their children. They owned the A&W Drive-In Restaurant in John Day for most of their career. She was involved in her church, and kept busy minis- tering to young children in Sunday School, recording radio programs with young people and serving with women in Bible studies. She often hosted visiting pastors and mis- sionaries passing through their small town. After fighting a bout of ovarian cancer in 1991, the cou- ple moved to Southern California that year. She stayed busy in church ministries and always had a heart for sharing the love of the Lord with others. Her husband of 56 years died on July 4, 2002, in South- ern California. In 2008, she followed her daughter and son-in-law, Venita and Dan Burch, to Pagosa Springs, and soon became involved in several ladies’ Bible stud- ies there. She spent several years volunteering at the Pagosa Pregnancy Support Center, and has had a last- ing impact on many young women and families in that community. Survivors include her children, Ron Lang of Portland; Stan Lang of Tucson, Ariz., and Venita Burch of Pagosa Springs; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Lura Lee Glass A memorial service for former Grant County resident Lura Lee Glass will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 23 at the columbarium at Canyon City Cemetery. Mrs. Glass died Aug. 31, 2014, in Peoria, Ariz. She attended school in Fossil and John Day. She and her husband raised their family in John Day from 1950- 1993.
