National
Emergency
Medical Services
(EMS) Week
May 17-23
EMS agencies work closely with
other emergency response
agencies – including police, fire,
and 9-1-1 communications – to
provide rapid medical care and
ww.bluemountainhospital.org
safe transportation to those who
are ill or injured. They also play
a significant role in our nation’s
response to natural and man-
made disasters. If you are
involved in a car accident, house
fire, experience a medical
emergency, or are evacuated to
an emergency shelter, you will
likely find yourself being cared
for by one of these highly-
trained professionals. For
medical conditions, Emergency
Medical Technicians (EMT) and
Paramedics can provide most of
the initial and subsequent
treatments that an emergency
department would. For
traumatic injuries, their primary
responsibility is to immediately
perform interventions that
correct life-threatening
conditions and then provide
rapid transportation to the
hospital for definitive care,
while managing the patient’s
pain.
BMH EMS also provides
community First Aid and CPR
education and advanced classes
for our hospital district
employees.

Resident of the Month – Floyd Morgan
Floyd was born August 11, 1937 in Marion, Alabama. He lived on a family farm
where watermelons were raised and he worked picking cotton. He then moved with
his family to Louisiana. After his brother Ray retired, his family moved to Raton,
New Mexico. Floyd lived there with his family until 2009, at which time, he moved
to Sequim, Washington with his nephew’s family. After his nephew retired, they
moved to Grant County, so his nephew’s wife could come back to where she grew
up.
Floyd loves music, church, people, all kinds of animals, parties and his family’s
visits. He loves seeing baby animals. Floyd came to the Blue Mountain Care Center
on September 4, 2013.
