The Grant Union team had a second-place finish
at their home invitational Saturday. There are four
golfers on the team this year: Chance Barrietua,
left, Nathan Gehley, Duane Stokes and Matt
Broemeling.
The Burns girls took
first place as a team, with
a score of 516, followed
by Enterprise with 530.
Medaling for the girls
was Catherine Clemons of
Burns, with 87, and Car-
son Sajonia of Enterprise
had 98.
“What a great day
to play golf,” said head
coach Ron Lundbom. “We

the season, and two boys
had a personal best. We
seem to be improving ev-
ery week.”
His team will be test-
ed this Friday on the road
to the Hermiston Invita-
tional at the Big River
Golf Course, which has a
“bigger field and tougher
course,” he said.

JOHN DAY – Prospec-
tors Nathan Gehley and
Duane Stokes medaled at
Friday’s Grant Union Invi-
tational, each carding 91,
and the Grant Union boys
team totaled 397 for second
place behind Vale, 391.
Four teams joined in for
the event held at the John
Day Golf Club, with 40
boys and girls competing.
Following Vale and
Grant Union, Enterprise
had 413, Burns 416, and
Wallowa 458.
McKay Justice of Vale
was close behind Grant
Union’s top two boys with
a 92. Brycen Locke of En-
terprise shot 93, and Alex
Falley of Burns, 94.
BOISE – Two Grant Union
Prospector girls basketball
players are enjoying an “ex-
tended season.”
Heather Mosley and Kori
Pentzer have been spending
their Fridays and Saturdays
in Boise to attend club ball
practices as part of the Idaho
Flash Academy basketball
teams.
They play on separate
teams for high school age
girls, joining players from
Kuna, Pocatello, and other
areas in the Treasure Valley.
An additional team is for ju-
nior high girls.
They tried out for and
joined the program to gain
experience, playing at a
higher level, and both girls
are hopeful the effort will
open up opportunities in the
future.
“I heard about playing on
a club team for college schol-
arships, and that’s the whole
goal of it – it’s national-level
tournaments, so we’re get-
ting really good competition
and growing a lot as players,”
said Pentzer.
During the week, Pentzer
and Mosley practice together
and on their own.
“We do a lot of ball han-
dling and shooting drills,”
Mosley said. “Also, strength
and conditioning and agility
drills.”
Pentzer said she is
sharp-shooting in the morn-
ings before school, and after
school she attends track prac-
tice, where she also is mak-
ing waves.
