Directs all functions and operations of the Public Works Department
including the construction, maintenance of the City streets, water and sewer
systems. Duties include planning, organizing and coordinating staffing,
budgeting, and reporting all activities of the department. Works under the
general direction of the City Manager. Supervises, instructs and assists
assigned crews in all aspects of the department including operation,
maintenance and construction projects. Desirable qualifications include
thorough knowledge of the modern principles and practices of Public Works.

High school diploma or GED required. At least five years of experience in
professional engineering or public works administration which insures the
proceeding knowledge, skills and abilities. Additional training or college
courses in engineering, administration or public works. Any combination of
experience and training which insures the ability to perform the work may
substitute for the above. Must have a valid Oregon driver’s license and a
valid Class B CDL or the ability to obtain them. Salary is $3,265 -$4,683 per

Magone Project
30-Day Scoping
The Blue Mountain Ranger District of the Malheur National
Forest is initiating the 30-day scoping period for the Magone
Project. The proposed action includes silviculture treat-
ments, prescribed burning, road activities, recreation oppor-
tunity improvements, and Magone Lake restoration activities
within the approximately 27,000 acre project planning area.
The overall purpose of this project is to restore forest resil-
iency by reestablishing and restoring forest structure and
pattern, vegetation composition and diversity, and riparian
communities to conditions that are more resilient to natural
disturbance processes. These actions are proposed on the
Blue Mountain Ranger District approximately 7 miles north
of John Day in Grant County, Oregon, within the Grub Creek
and East Fork Beech Creek subwatersheds that drain into
the Upper John Day River. The legal description is: T11S,
R31E, sections 25-29, 32-36; T11S, R32E, sec. 30-32; T12S,
R31E, sec. 1-5, 8-12, 13-15, 17-24; T12S, R32E, sec., 5-11,
15-20, W.M.

The Blue Mountain Ranger District (BMRD) will be holding
an open house on Tuesday February 24, 2015. The meeting
is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Grant County
Regional Airport, 720 Airport Road, John Day, OR 97845.
Participants will have the opportunity to contribute infor-
mation, ideas, or concerns and discuss the project with
members of the project’s interdisciplinary team. This will be
a joint meeting where the BMRD will also be sharing infor-
mation about the Camp Lick Project. Those that are unable
to attend but wish to make comments please see below on
how to submit comments.
The comment period will begin when the Notice of Intent
(NOI) to prepare an environmental impact statement is
published in the Federal Register. The publication date
is anticipated to be February 16, 2014; therefore, to be
most useful, comments on this proposed action should be
received by the Blue Mountain Ranger District on or before
March 19, 2014. The exact publication date in the Federal
Register can be obtained by checking the Federal Register
(http://www.archives.gov/federal-register/index.html) or the
Forest’s website (see above) for the exact date that the NOI
is published. The publication date in the Federal Register is
the exclusive means for calculating the scoping period for
this proposal. Those wishing to comment should not rely
on dates or timeframe information provided by any other
source.
