The Lady Prospectors domi- nated for a 42-15 win, while the Prospector boys clinched a 58- 55 win over Imbler. GU boys hustle for win The Prospector boys had a slow start against Imbler, but made a good run to take the OHDGLQWKH¿UVWTXDUWHU They were ahead for much of the second quarter, but the Panthers crept up. With just .8 seconds left in the half, the score was tied, and Imbler called a timeout. DAYVILLE – The bleachers at Dayville School were packed last Friday as the Dayville/Monument Tigers boys and girls teams faced the Crane Mus- tangs for their second meeting in a week. The Tiger boys came together for a balanced ef- fort, defeating the Mustangs 49-35. JOHN DAY – The Grant Union wrestling team took on strong Burns and Crane teams last Thursday as the Prospec- tors hosted a duals tournament. “These are very good teams,” said Grant Union head coach Andy Lusco. “Probably two of the best in the district.” Notable performances for Grant Union came from An- tonio Dancer who was 2-1 and Clay Johnson, 2-0. Grant Union fell to Crane 24-30, and Burns, 24-48. “We have closed the gap considerably on these two teams from three seasons ago,” Lusco said. On Saturday, the Grant Union wrestlers earned second at the Irrigon meet. “The kids wrestled tough with Antonio Dancer and Clay Johnson standing out,” the coach said. Grant Union junior high wrestlers also competed at the Jan. 29 duals meet against Burns and Crane. “Braden Spencer shined with a 4-0 record,” Lusco said. Drew Lusco, Roen Lang- um, Ethan Moore and Antonio Smith went 1-1 with Russell Hodge going 1-2. The team went beyond the 60 points required to move on to state compe- tition, earning an overall Dayville/Monument 2015 COUNTY head coach Shannon Adair. “Because we are starting off with a high score in chore- ography, we can improve in technique and overall effect (scoring categories) and gain ground in our average score.” Also competing in Grant Union’s division, Stayton received an overall score of 82.11, Valley Catholic 78.78 and Molalla 65.89.
