and Cathy – you are great.
They delivered 17 regular
lunches, and then 18 more
frozen dinners to shut-ins.
Our servers were from
the First Christian Church.
Cathy led the flag salute,
and Al asked the blessing.

Thursday afternoon bingo
will begin right after lunch
starting Jan. 8. For the
kick-off, there will also be
door prizes, so come help
us get it off to a good start.
We will have lots of fun,
fellowship, refreshments,
coffee and just a good old
time.
Again, a gentle reminder
to please remove your hats
when in the building. This
is just a common courtesy.
There will be a dance
here with live music by Up
River Country Band, from
1-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10.
Again, there will be re-
freshments and coffee.

JOHN DAY – On Dec.
29, we didn’t have too
many people, but we did
have lots of snow. Really
cold out, too.
Good day for the meal
we had. Judy prepared
homemade creamy chicken
broccoli soup, served with
crackers, and/or turkey and
cheese sandwiches. We
had cake for dessert. Judy
was on her own, as Isa has
ceased employment in the
kitchen.
Margaret Glass and Su-
san Fowle were at the desk.
Al and Cathy Altnow de-
livered the meals. Judy and
Veanne Weddle were very
appreciative of them, as
they even did the Mt. Ver-
non run, which Veanne gen-
erally has to do. Thanks, Al
tainers. We are really get-
ting low. Even if you don’t
take leftovers home, bring
in some empty butter tubs,
cottage cheese containers,
etc. Please make sure they
are clean.
We had one guest – Gail
Heising brought his daugh-
ter, Vicki, in for lunch.
Buzz Harris won the Len’s
Drug certificate, and the
free meal went to Roberta
Dowse.
There was no lunch on
New Year’s Day. On Jan.
5, we had spaghetti, salad
and garlic bread. On Thurs-
day, Jan. 8, it will be beef
stroganoff, and then on
Monday, Jan. 12, we will
hopefully have a potato
bar, if they can get good
bakers.
Angels urge us to take
risks and will always catch
us if we stumble.

in the snow is a different matter
entirely. I guess you just have
to take it real slow and easy. I
mean, what’s your hurry any-
way? I feel like a tourist because
I’m constantly taking pictures
with my phone whenever we
are driving anywhere. You never
know when you get that perfect

I’m not the one driving while
taking pictures. Ha!
