others that chloroform has danger*
when used by artificial light, but this
fact is by no mm» generally recog­
nized. Persons have been killed by the
decomposition of chloroform by gas­
light. It ha» been attempted to over­
come the danger of the production of
this form of poisoning by placing ««da
or borax solution or milk of lime In the
operating-room, but the»e method«
have been shown to be wholly Insuffi­
