The school here is of the progres sive sort, as it employs none but good teachers. -Win. Herron, whose county pa per has so regularly visited this section, went from here to Catlow Valley, quite a while ago. -Wm. The postoffice that gave name to our thriving little place has not re sumed operations since its discon tinuance, but ours is one of the widest awake points in the county, as a visit will convince any one of inquiring mind. Plowed ground; fall and spring sowed grain; extensive wire fenc ing; neatly kept grounds, is the rule not the exception. Immigrants will do well to call here to look at property if they are in search of good soil, climate, and water. From Warner Valley. The postoffice for this south western part of Harney county is Plush, Newt. Roberts, postmaster. A sujterior quality of rock salt for stock, meat salt ami table salt is furnished from here bv an en terprising manufacturing firm, to Burns, Harney. Lakeview, Prine ville, Silver and Summer Lake towns. Large numbers of immigrants visited, and «many settled here in the early part of last year. S mall fruits, such as strawber ries, currants, blackbenita, goose berries, grapes, raspberries, etc are excellent hearers in and around Burns, and. where we have heard of them being tried, in all parts of the county. Duncan, of Beulah, Mal heur county, was in Burns several days of last week. —Mr. Press Smith, of Diamond Valley, was in B-rns last week, on land business. —Mrs. B. F. Loyd of Harney, and who was very dangerously sick, is in the country, and report ed convalescent. —Mrs. C. E. McKinney and Miss Grace Canfield of Harney, were in town Hnturilny, and regis tered at the Burns hotel. —I’hil. Metsehan, of Canyon Citv, and a candidate on the Re-j publican ticket for State Treasurer, | was in our town last week. —Bill Woods,—proprietor of the White Front Livery Stable,—offers $20 for the first ton of new hay, delivered at his barn in Burns. —J. J. Pierson, photographer, will leave our town this week, but we hope he will speedily return, and permanently locate in Burns. —Steve Woods, of Trout Creek, visited our town last week, and while here contracted with several of our citizens to furnish them with butter during the summer. —A.
