Wood, of Portland, arrived here the first or this week and has been visit ing at the Bell A and over at the OO Ranch. The Times Herald learns from a member of the family that Mrs. K. L. Hibbard. mother of Dr. L. B. Hlb bard of this city, died at the family home near Salem on April 20. De ceased was a highly eapected pioneer woman of Oregon and was 74 years old. The lady had visited here and there are many people in this vicinity who know her and will regret her demise. J. Clark Freeman was In town Thursday from his ranch on lower Silver Creek. Mr. Freeman haa re cently returned from his California ranch where he has been residing for 1 lie past several yeara. He Is going to remain in this county during the present season at least and look after his ranch here. Mr. Freeman has many old time friends lu this section who are glad to welcome him to the old home again. Died At the family home at the Colony House near Crane on last Monday night, April 29, Hope, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. D. Morrison, passed away following a short Illness of pneumonia. It was a sad death as the child was but twelve yeara old and a bright little girl. The remains were prepared for burial by O. W. Cleveuger of this city and shipped to Portland where the body will be cremated and the asbes ship ped to Now Yofk. He has legal business before the circuit court at Vale and must go later to Latirande and Portland He may ex tend his visit to Eugene to see his daughter. They will return here in a few days before going on out to Baker. Frank Foster has returned home from his sojourn In California where he spent the winter. The young man volunteered his services to Uncle Sam last winter but at the time ha was too light In weight and they woufd not accept him In the army. He has been placed In Class 1 In this county and will await his call now as he Im needed on the ranch and will devote his time there until he la called. Mr. and Mrs. C. hi Kenyou and Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Whllworth arrived here from Welser Tuesday enroute to Lakeview. The Kenyons formerly resided in this city and have many friends in this section who are glad to greet them on their occasion al visits.
