The Idaho conference comprises the state of Idaho, Eastern Oregon and a portion of Utah. As only two delegates were elected and 18 candidates were in the field, the successful candidates feel highly honored. Competition is very keen for this honor, at it is one of the highest honors conferred upon a layman in the church. T. II. McMahan of Pocatello, Idaho, was the other successful candi- Additioaal Locals. Place in the Gap. date. -Blue Mt Eagle. Under date of Sept. 18 Walter Gray writes this office that his father. P. H. Gray, had struck an artesian flow of water on his farm in Crane Creek Gap at a depth of 120 feet. The flow comes from bed rock and is cold and clear. Mr. Gray has owned this place for many years and has been farming it during recent years with good success. He already had two fine wells on the place, one at the house being exception ally good water and he used this to- irrigate his garden. Walter doesn't say how strong the flow is from the artesian well, but no doubt it is sufficient to irrigate some land and will be a great boon to Mr. Gray. This place is right along the railroad route and therefore it is made more valuable on account of this flowing well. Nasarene Church. According to a recent issue of the Prineville Journal that city looks forward to a railroad in the immediate future. A big con cern owns considerable timber east of that town and the repre sentatives of the lumber people are getting busy with the propo sition of putting a road to these holdings from some point on the Deschutes, bringing the line by way of Prineville. It is stated that to delay in getting this timber out is a losing proposition as the taxes, interest on the money invested and the Are risk makes it imperative that the timber be gotten to the mar ket It is proposed to establish mills at Prineville and bring the logs to that point to be manu factured. There are 30, 000 acres of timber. Market Report K After The Times-Herald had gone to press last issue the in formation came to us that Frank Clerf had sustained a heavy loss from fire at his Alvord ranch on Wednesday night of last week His large barn together with 23 head of stock, 17 mules and five head of blooded horses, harness, saddles, rigs, farm machinery, etc., and over 1800 bushels of grain were destroyed. A man by the name of Ventura Equibar, who had been discharg ed from the ranch by Mr. Clerf, was suspected of setting the bam on fire and as tracks were teen leading away from thejscenc they was followed, the sheriff and county attorney being notified in the meantime, and the suspect was caught at Wild Horse. It is stated the man has confessed to the crime and is now held in the jail at this place awaiting the ac tion of the grand jury which meets next week. Fortunately no other buildings on the place were ignited the other out buildings and dwelling escaping. The barn destroyed was the largest private barn in the county and well built. The Times-Herald did not learn whether there was any insurance or not Christian Science Church. Christian Scientists will hold there services at the Presbyter ian Church, Sundays at 8 P. M. LIKE A MONEY TREE. f Portland Union Stock Yards, receipts for Monday September 20. 1915 were: Cattle 1233; calves 26; hogs 2606; sheep 465. Cattle market opened up this morning with a run of 1200 head. Prices ruled around the 6.90 mark for choice steers, 5.00 for best cows, bulls at 4.0) and stags went as 6.65. The stock went fast with bulk ranging from 6.00 to 6:50; outlook fair. With a fair run of 2600 hogs, trading in the swine division was not very brisk, owing probably, to lack of quality. One load of good hogs brought 6.75, 10c over hut week's close. The bulk sold at 6.50 to 6.66. Sheep transactions were made rapidly with an advance of 25c on yearlings. Lambs are grabbed up quickly at 7.00, ewes at 5.00 and wethers 5.50. The packers can easily handle many more sheep than have been brought in, receipts for today totaled to about 4.25 head.
