He was called to Salem on this matter as the land board had again taken the matter up and contemplated dropping the suit, but upon Mr. McConnel's showing Attorney! General Brown has been investi gating the case. Ml. Brown will be in this section in the neat future tp look further into the matter. Dr. Benson went to Sunset last week on invitation from the peo ple of that section, and delivered them a sermon on Good Friday. There was a gathering of the people of the neighborhood be fore noon and a basket luncheon was partaken of the sermon following. Geo. E. Anderson, of Fort Rock, was in the city the fore part of this week in the interest of a school supply house which he was representing. He is a former newspaper man and made a call at this office from force of habit. I. Schwartz and wife and Miss Ida Frieman arrived home Sun day from Portland where they had been called by telegram to attend the funeral of Mr. Epstein, who was brother-in-law of Mrs. Schwartz. They were accompa nied home by a little niece who will make an extended visit with them. "Faithful Unto Death" is the title of a four reel feature picture at Tonawama tonight. It is a thrilling drama of the Franco Prussion wur and one of the finest picture dramas ever brought to Burns. There is no question of its being well worth seeing. There-are two additional reels for the program tonight, a come dy and a Pathe News, the latter always the best, in its line. Mrs. G. A. Rembold took her departure lust Thursday morning for Portland where she will re main for an indefinite time, She is going particularly for a rest and will be joined later by Mr. Rembold and together they will visit the big fair at San Francisco and visit other points of interest. Mrs. Rembold made plans for her music pupils that will take them through to the close of the school and their credits will be allowed on their grades just as in the past. Died - April !, at his farm four miles east of Lswen, I'eter Urfur, aged 50 years he having passed uway on his 601 h birthduy. Mr. Urfur hud been suffering from heart trouble for several years and his death was not un expected to those who were ac quainted with his condition. Deceased was born in Switzerland April 6, 18G5 and came to the United States 30 years ago. Ho had resided in this Valley for the past Bcven years. He is surviv ed by a wife anf step-daughter who were at his bedside when the end came. He was a mem ber of the Woodmen of the World. The funeral was held WedneE day afternoon, the service being conducted by Rev. Dr. Babbidge, interment being made in the Sad dle Butte cemetery. Mr. Urfur was a good man and held the respect of a wide circle of friends who extend their sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
