Moathe I 00 .71 Test Vote Favorable to Bonding For Water S There were 209 votes cast at the test election held last Tues day to ascertain the sentiment of the people on the proposition ot bonding for water and sewer. Of these 172 favored bonding and 37 opposed, showing it about five to one in favor. While this was a small vote it shows the inter est taken in the matter and the city authorities will act. A special meeting of the coun cil was held last night and nec essary steps taken toward get ting the matter before the people at an early dale. It was neces sary to communicate with diff erent bonding houses and ascer tain the legal steps to be taken and the method of procedure will be carefully gone into in order that the election may be legal and thus have no flaw to inter fere with the sale of the bonds should it carry. The Burns-Juntura Mail Contract Has Been Let At last a contract has been made for the carrying of the mail between here and Juntura. Shelby & Cole were awarded the contract and have taken charge. The price is $15,000 for first and and second class mail six times a week and $1.50 per hundred for parcel post, the latter to be brought in not less than three times a week and oftener if not exceeding 1000 lbs. accumulates at once. The local post office was rather "up in the air" for a day or two as the instructions received were conflicting. Now the matter has been definitely settled and the new contractors have taken over the business. While the contract calls for six times a week mail the present train schedule to Juntura is but three times a week, but it is likely this will be incaeased in the immediate future to six times a week.
