They came back by way of Enterprise and visited Mr. Hamilton's parents and brothers Ceo. M. Bailey, connected with the Northwest Townsite Co. of of Philadelphia, passed through this city early in the week en route to Paisley accompanied by his daughter and a young lady friend of the family. The party was accompanied over to Paisley by Mrs. J. I " Gault and her son Wellington, C. M. Faulkner tak ing them over. Mrs. Gault re maining for a short visit with her brother and wife. Capt. A. W. Go wan called at this office yesterday afternoon and suggested that the three candidates for I '. 8. Senator be nvited to attend the big "Round up" scheduled at the Experiment Station for the farmers on the 8th of next month. Mr. Gowan stated that R. A, Booth, the re publican candidate wished to visit Harney county in the interest of his candidacy and thought that would be a good time. Mr. Han ley belongs here and will no doubt be present but Senator Chamberlain is at his post of duty at Washington and it is not likely he will be able to come. How ever the voters of Harney county will have an opportunity to see Senator Chaityberjain. at some time during the campaign as he will return to his home as soon as he can leave Washington and he has promised personal friends he will visit Harney county. Will Walkup and wife and little daughter are hero on a visit to Mrs. Wulkup's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Clevenger. The Clay Clemens sawmill is now at its new location and is prepared to fill any order with rough or dressed lumber, also fir lumber: buck teeth and any special order given prompt at tention. 32. (.'has. Johnson and wife and Fred Williams and wife and little son made up a party to go camp ing Wednesday morning. Mr. Johnson was recalled to town the same afternoon on account of the death of his nephew, Raymond McHargue. P. S. Weittenhiller arrived home last week from outside points. Ho was uecompanied in by his duughter Miss Clara, und his little son Iceland, who will spend the the summer here. Miss Weittenhiller, who has been in poor health and recently un derwent an operation for appen dicitis, is improving in health and her many friends are pleased to note the improvemont. II II. at uu- 111111' a resident of this county but now of Portland, a Mr. Logan and Carroll Cecil blew into town Thursday afternoon for a short time. Chas. has been over in Crook county looking after some business interest and came over to say "hello" to his many old time friends in this city. The party stayed but a short tinuv re turning to Mr. Cecil's Silver creek home the same evening. Hoeea Latham was kicked by a mule at one of the P. L. S. Co. hay camps last Tuesday and is now at the Cummins hospital in a very serious condition. The animal was fighting flies and did not kick at Mr. I Jitham but he struck him in the groin and at first it was not considered of any consequence. I-uter it was so painful he came in to consult a physician. Dr. Geary states the young man in a bad shape. He is a recent arrival in this section being a cousin of R. Heck. Lat er: The young man died at noon while physicians were operating in the hope of saving his life. C. E. Kenyon and J. D. Bill ingsley accompanied by their families passed through this city the first of this week en route to the coast where they will re main until the first of September. They were making the journey in their cars and prepared to camp any where. Chas. had a mishap on Stinkin Water Mount ain, breaking his axle, which de layed the party but they were a happy bunch and took things us they come. They may go by Cra ter lake and on to Coos Bay. Mr. Murphy went out to meet them and was on the train that was recently held up by robbers in the Blue Mountains near the old Mecham station in which a deputy sheriff of Morrow county killed the leader of the gang and was himself shot. Mr. Murphy witnessed this and the papers credited him with having taken a hand in it but Mr. Murphy denies it, giving all the credit to the deputy sheriff. Dalton Gibbs was kicked by a horse Thursday afternoon at the upper Lampshiru place upon his return from searching for the little Patterson child. The hoofs of the animal struch him on the back right over the kidney and he had to ride horseback over 12 miles before he could consult a physician. Dr. Carl made an ex amination and thought at first it J nut pussib,ly put bad but yester ay Mr. Gibbs hd a hemorrhage and had to be taken to the Cum mins hospital. Judge Biggs came over to con duct the recount of the ballots of the recent primary election in the contest of Judge Benson and Judge McNary for the nomina tion of supreme judge on the re publican ticket. While here the .1'nli-e has been holding a vaca tion term of court. Tonawama announces a change in its picture programs beginning on next Saturday, July 2T. The management has been corres ponding with several film houses for trie past few weeks to get a better service und has succeeded in securing the Universal, the best produced in the United States and from the above date Tonawama patrons are going to be treated to some of the best pictures ever produced. As soon as the school year opens some particular features will begin und among them will be a con tinued story picture to be run every Wednesday night and con tinued for 15 weeks.
