The young man is well pleased with this section and has made application to become a citizen of the United states. J. B. Cawlfield, who has been down at Narrows fojr the past two months caring for his mother, was in the city the first of this week. Mr. Cawlfield was formerly a resident of this coun ty where he was married to a sister to Miss Maude Ragon. He has been making his home in Koseburg but also has business interests in Alaska. The revival meeting that have been conducted for the past two weeks by Revs. Lewis and Mathews have been very suc cessful and well attended. The road between here and Bend is almost beyond auto travel. We understand the short course instructors who left here last Saturday afternoon did not reach Brookings until 2am the J next morning. Mrs. E. N. Nelson, who has been too ill for a couple of weeks to attend her duties in the I. Schwartz store, is much im proved. M. A. Spicer was up from Sunset during the week. He states he will do some farming this spring and that his neighbor hood will have a considerable acreage seeded. Fred Otley is up from Lawen. J. P. Withers was in the city yesterday. L. B. Culp was up from his homestead yesterday. Born Feb. 26, to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Williams, a son. The snow is disappearing quite rapidly and the roads are be coming soft. Mrs. Fred Clingan left this morning for Portland where" she will order her spring millinery stock. IT Iillson Harrison was over from Drewsey yesterday on a visit to his family. Dr. Harrison is now a farmer in addition to practicing his profession and while here bought one of the Holstein cows from the Harney ' 'mini v National Bank herd. It is reported that wool buyers representing Boston firms are in this section trying to contract this season's clip, but have nqt met with success. The wool men are pretty well satisfied with con ditions at present and look for an advance, in fact buyers are offering more now for wool than was paid last year. Austin Goodman is ready to grind grain and has a building in which it may be stored by farmers at any time. He will grind one day each week and farmers may store their grain any day and get it when con venient. He is prepared to take grain as pay for grinding at the market price.
