Messrs. Frank Johnson, C. B. McConnell and P. S. Weitten liiiler are doing some good work toward securing grains, grasses, etc., for the fair, but it is im possible to go everywhere, there fore those who have products to exhibit should bring them in at any time. It would be appreciat ed by those engaged in preparing these exhibits to have people drop in and assist in putting the bundles in shape. It is a very tedious process to pick out a few heads of grain at a time and place them neatly in bundles and with so little help it takes a long time. The ladies can assist in this work and would be heartily welcomed. They will be given the privilege of gossiping as much as they desire. The ex hibits are being prepared in the rear of the Colonisation Co., and Weittenhiller offices, a handy place to drop in and assist when one has a short time not other wise taken up. covered from her recent illness and has again taken charge of her photo gallery. Fred Hollowav, one of the pioneer stock men of the Denio section, was here on land busi ness Thursday. Mr. Holloway made the trip in his Ford car and states they do not seem so far away from the county seat and land office since they have autos to make the trip in. He says the heavy rains have ruined the roads in the vicinity of the Alvord ranch and they are practically impassable. This should have immediate attention of the road master in that district. The Electric Light & Power (Jo. hus received a new genera tor and also a big 60-horse power gasoline engine which are now being installed at the plant for emergencies. The new genera tor will be put in use at once the engine being used at such time as water power is not available. It is a needed improvement that will be appreciated by the patrons of the plant who will increase the use of electricity when it is found the plant can be depended upon at all reasons of the year. The present service is very good and we hear of no complaint. With the additional machinery better service may be expected and with assurance of continuous lights at all seasons of the year it will be of mutual benefit t ail concerned.
