The three children of George Buchanan were in from their home this week to take in the theatre and visit friends. Woolley, representing the Pacific Hardware" Co. of Port land was in the city yesterday calling upon the trade. This is his first trip to this territory, although he has been with the house for a number of years, and he is most favorably impressed with the magnitude of Harney Valley and its possibilities. Co. has enjoined his irriga tion company nnd stopped work until matters can be settled in court. President John D. Daly of tho First National Bank arrived hero from Boiso yesterday evening. Ho will remain only a short time looking after business and visit ing his many friends. Mrs. Daly was hero for a fow days but has returned to Drewsey where hIio is visiting her mother. Dr. F. II. Ingram, Chiroprac tor, recently of Portland, is at the French hotel. Ho expects to locate permanently in this city and comes with good recommen dations. FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE ELECTION TO AMEND THE CHARTER. Tho initiative election called for July 30 to amend tho charter of Burns to provide for bonding should be given attention by the tax payers. This is necessary before we enn vote on tho propo sition of wnter or sower systems and ns wo aro growing such pro visions should be made. It should not be confused as meaning nn affirmative vote is for bonds nt this special election, as that is not what wo are to vote on at that time. It is merely provid ing for bucIi an emergency nnd tho bond election will be an nfter consideration. NEEDED IMPROVEMENTS. Tho city council will take up tho matter of a side walk from tho fair grounds gate to the new school building nt its next meot- nir. This is a needed improve ment that should bo made. It is right that tho people living in that portion of town should be given a wnlk to the new school building in tho mast direct nnd practical route and property own ers should not protest so long as it is put in for tho best interest of tho people it is intended to servo.
