entertain. The excursion will
leave Portland Thursday, April
25, and return to Portland early
Saturday morning.
The Roseburg Commercial Club
is planning a gala time from May
14 to 18. On tho 14th, 15th and
16th it will entertain the mem
bers of the State Grange at their
annual meeting, and on the lGth,
17th and 18th will hold a straw
berry festival and rose carnival.
A plan to own a five story fire
proof office building that will pro
vide them with n permanent
home has been submitted to the
members of the La Grande Com
mercial Club. It will be financed
by issuing shares of $100 each to
be taken by the members of the
Club.
The Civic Improvement Lea
gue, an organization of the wom
en of Burns, has been formed for
bettering the sanitary condition
of the city. It will also co-operate
with the Burns Commercial
Club and the Merchant's Associa
tion. The Lebanon Commercial Club
has just published a splendid
booklet advertising Lebanon and
Linn County. The motto of the
book is: "Lebanon, the Straw
berjy Center of the Valley of the
Santiam River."
A consolidation of the Wood
yille and Evans Valley Develop
ment Leagues has been effected
under the name of the Woodville
Commercial Club, with the object
of the rapid development of the
Evans Valley.
The Commercial Club of Port
land's Garden has been organized
with headquarters at Schools,
Washington County. The im
mediate object of the Club is to
build a tunnel under Council
Crest, making possible quick
transportation between the Tua
latin Valley and Portland.
Waldo Hills, Fernridge and
Victor Point have joined the sub
limity informing the Sublimity
Commercial Club. The purpose
is to advertise that section and to
construct good roads in Marion
County.
The Lakeview Commercial Club
recently raised $G50 with which
to publish 10,000 conies of a
pamphlet giving information
about Lake County.
To advertise its advantages as
a summer and winter resort, the
Newport Commercial Club has
joined with the Southern Pacific
in a community advertising plan.
At the annual meeting of the
Grants Pass Commercial Club,
Secretary Andrews reported a
membership of 325.
EIGHT flRADE EXAMINATION.

tricts on May 9-10, and Septem
ber 5-6, 1912.

the eight grade work.
