Lively interest is in evidence for the office of County Commis sioner. It is in line for candi dates to express themselves for or against building a court house. Tho expression that I am heat already does not speak well for my chances. Before I Uike my "hat out of the ring" I willsttite my position. The man who says go and build, the companies pay (2 per cent. of the taxes, is a sectionist. I am for internal upbuilding of this great county and rather than spend so much money in a build ing I would favor to start and work for a county agricultural college -a Corvallia for Eastern Oregon - teaching our boys prac tical farming in all its branches. It would bo the greatest adver tising for Harney Vnlley over undertaken and one that would bring big and lasting interest In this respect allow me to re fer to other countries. My na tive state in Germany, about the size of Harney County, has three agricultural colleges, one of in ternational reputation. Without such schools Germany would never have attained to know how to feed 00,000.000 peoplo in a country three-fourths tho size of Texas, besides maintaining a standing army of 000,000 men I would favor county aid under strict conditions. I positively have no selfish interests to serve for myself. Havo unshaken faith in this country, and want to put in my share to work it. Paul Lochkk. The Progressive Republican (llilntc for Congress.
