Judire Bices called court Thurs
day and the business was started
in the usual manner. A jury was
drawn in a case and the trial
readv to nrocced when it was dis
covered it was Columbus Day, a
legal holiday, therefore court was

attention in Malheur county.
J. 0. Bunyard was one of tho
exhibitors at the county fair.
Ho showed some fine apples and
also somo potatoes that had been
grown repeatedly on the same
ground for ten years. .Theso
"spuds" were fine in every par
ticular and gives one an idea of
tho fertility of Harney county
soil and explodes the theory that
rotation is necessary. Of course
it is no doubt best to change tho
nature of tho crop ns often as
possiblo but in Harney county
it appears the soil will not wear
out.
