dropsy. Deceased was a half
brother to J. W. nnd George
Buchanan of this county Ho
had been in the mining districts
of Nevnda and California for a
number of years and but re
cently returned to this section.
Interment was mado Friday at
Harney. Ho is survived by a
wife, from whom ho had been
divorced, and five children, two
sons in Huntington, another in
Mnlheur City; one daughter in
Missoula, Montana and a daugh
ter, Mrs. Dole Smith, of this city.
Sheriff Richardson, who return
ed tho first of the week from the
south end reports the death of
Mrs, C. M. Fields on January 3.
Deceased was 50 years old nnd
her illness was only of a few days
duration. She hnd pneumonin.
Mr. Fields sent a message to tho
daughter who was in Reno of her
mother's death nnd a response
came that if ho desired to see
his daughter alivo to como at
once. It scorns the daughter
was dangerously ill nt tho same
timo. After tho funeral Mr.
Fields hnstened to Reno. Ho
was still absent when Mr. Rich
ardson was down there. Tho
family is well known nnd much
sympathy is expressed.
