The Times-Herald begins its
twenty-fourth year with this is
sue. The present manager en
tered his apprentiship in this
office twenty-one years ago next
month and has Been identified
with the paper continuosly ever
since, being away from the office
only a short interval during the
entire time. He might have fol
lowed some more remunerative
line of business, but is satisfied
with his lot and expects to con
tinue.at the helm for an indefinite
time. The Times-Herald has just
closed its most successful year in
a financial way and hopes to merit
the confidence and business of
the people of Harney county in
the future as in tho past. Its
religion will continue tho same
that of boosting for Harney
county.
Tho Times-Herald hopes the
business men of Burns will all
attend tho get together meeting
of the commercial club scheduled
for next Saturday evening. It
is a mistake to neglect such
gatherings and depend upon a
few public spirits to do tho boost
ing for Burns and Harneycounty.
With tho right spirit shown, tho
personal and active participation
of actual business men and heavy
taxpayers this organization will
accomplish results that we aro
seeking. Otherwise it will not
be of as much force and influenco
in a general way. We Bhould
have our home meetings at short
intervals and not wait until wo
havo prominent guests to bring
us together.
