Sheriff Richardson loft Tuesday afternoon with an auto load of ballot boxes for precincts in the southern part of tho county. Ho went as far as Denio and distri buted boxes enroutc, returning home yesterday afternoon. The auto certainly is a timo saver as tho election supplies were de livered in less than half the usual time. Mr. Richardson leaves again this afternoon for the Drewsey country on a like mission. Geary as joint hostess. There were sixteen tables in play, and it was a happy company which enjoyed tho evening thoroughly. Mrs. Irving Miller and Mrs. Chas. Wilson re ceived the prizes for tho highest scores with tho ladies. Hon I. S. Geer and Sam Mothershead tied for the honors among the gentlemen. Dainty refresh ments were served. Electric light natrons were somewhat disappointed when thov failed to receivo service on the first of tho month. Tho mill is grinding flour at this timo and is using all tho water, therefore nowor for tho lights is lacking. Wo understand tho light people have secured power privileges at tho Sweek dam and that tho plant will finally bo moved to that point whore it is hoped to be able to furnish continual service. itofThis should bo rushed by tho company as patrons desiro con tinuous service, and there would be a greater number put in lights if thoy were assured of good ser vice tho entire year. Contractor Smith is pushing tho work on the Masonic temple with a larce force of men. and with favorablo weather it will not bo long before tho roof will bo on. The high school pupils have ordered the new piano for which funds were recently raised through a basket social and gen erous donations of prominent citi zens of this county. Tho piano is a Stcinway make and one of the best to bo had. Wm. Hanley arrived home from Portland and other outside points yesterday evening. All the cattle ho recently drove to tho road were shipped west and ho says there is a big demand for cattle. He remarked of the increasing demand for more stock more farm products and more people to supply tho growing de mand for food stuff in the west COMMUNICATED.
