A couple of light showers hnve
visited this vicinity recently but
not sufficient rain has fallen to be
of any mnterial benefit. Silver
creek had a good rain and per
haps other sections. The wcahter
is threatening today and we may
get a down pour which is much
needed. .
Thos. Stephens and R. Heck
are home from a week's fishing
trip to Lognn Valley. Thoy had
a fine outing and brought back
some fish. Thoy succeeded in
capturing one steel head salmon
and state there arc a number of
them up there having come up
the Malheur.
Glen Ireland and I. L. Pierce
spent a few days of this week in
vestigating some gold prospects
over near Buck mountnin. They
found some gold but are not much
excited about it. Mr. Pierce
said it rained good over there
nnd on the hend of Silver Creek,
but lower down thero was very
littlo.
II. J. Hansen, the rustling
meat market man of this city
has recently closed a deal where

Burns. Mr. Hansen paid a good

tho substantial young men of
this section and has a bright fu
ture. Mr. and Mrs. Smith will
soon occupy their now homo just
being comploted in this city. A

Died Wednesday morning
June 15, at tho county hospital,
L. Stuwart, ago 153 years. The
young man had only been here a
few weeks nnd was employed in
the Drinkwater blacksmith shop.
He took to his bed with spotted
fever last week. Tho remasns
were interred in the Burns cem
etery. He had no relatives here
but had a sister in Marysville,
California and two brothers,
parents are dead.
