Addison Bennett is right in his predictions and in order to "bent the railroad" to this county one must hustle. The appointment of truant officers by the county court was a right movo and it is to bo hoped thoywill actively discharge their duties. There is entirely too much indifference shown by some people toward educating their children. The plowing up of sovoral nat ural meadows in this vicinity and seeding to grain shows the wisdom of tho farmer and his realization that tho land is too valuable for wild hay. There will be greater demand for grain next year and much more will bo used. L. R. Glavis, former chief of field division of the general land office, who was recently dis charged on account of accusing Secretary Ballinger of connec tion with the Alaska coal land scandal, has had his cay in Col lier's Weekly. Secretary Ballin ger at once says Glavis is a liar and there it stands. Perhaps an investigation by congress will finally bring tho cotroversy to a close. The building now nearing com pletion being erected by tho Odd Fellows is a very handsome structure and the order is cer tainly entitled to much credit. It shows the confidence of tho membership in this city and its future and has stimulated real estate and caused other such buildings to be considered. The Odd Fellow building has added to the value of every property in Burns and will stand as a monu ment to that great order forever. Charley Gupton and G. F. Mead, U. S.
