District Attorney Bristol aaid
that according to information that
had come to the Government,
Scharff had been repeatedly warned
to remove the fence, hut had ig
nored the warnings. "Htockreisers
in various parte of the state have
shown a tendency to ignore the
notices to remove fences from pub
lic land," said Mr Bristol. "But,
in view of the fact that Mr. Scharff
haa voluntary come into court and
pleaded guilty to the indictment
and thus saved expense of a trial,
would suasest that leniencv be
shown, particularly if the defendsr.t
will agree to remove the fences from
