It seems that a monopoly of the exten slve fisheries of Scotland and Eugland once came Into the hands of a man who kept his agents at the principal stations and required them to furnish him all facts that came to their knowl edge. At one of Ids stations In the far north the fishing had been unsuccessful for the greater part of the season, and there was no prospect of Improvement when he looktsl Into the matter.
