Where good shooting may be found
oue day tbe hunter will find to be
entirely out of the range of the fly
ways followed by game the next.
Row boats are rather slow naviga
tion and when one has to pull in
some cases several miles.it becomes
tedious.
A gasoline launch could be plac
ed at the disposal of several hunt
ing parties by placing the hunters
at various points in a short time,
besides transferring tbe game and
gathering up the scattered nimrods
after the days’ shooting was done.
This proposition is worthy of ser
ious consideration. It would in
duce many and frequent excursions
to those big inland seas of pleasure
parties that would otherwise spend
the time elsewhere.
Real Farm at the Fair.
A large experimental farm, in
actual operation under the direc
tion of skilled agriculturalists, will
be one of the many novel spectacles
at the Lewie and Clark Centennial.
The farm will be located on the
western side of the Fair grounds,
and the work of preparing the soil
and laying out the farm is already
well under way.
The site alloted to the farm was
formerly a truck garden which was
couducled by Chinamen. Il is an
ideal spot with rich, alluvial earth
capable of producing the most pro
lific crops. None of the great world
expositions ever held before have
given such an object lesson to the
people. While there have been
corn stalks of enormous size, tied
with blue ribbons, and fruits on a
china plate, the opportunity of
studying a marvelous crop, while
actually growing, will be an entirely
new and original feature of 1905
Exposition.

Farmer« are nssured of good prices
for every bushel of good milling
wheal brought to tbe mill and other
cereals always command a good
price. In fact it would pay to
raise grain and feed it to stock—
especially hogs. Bacon and lard
and bams are good money in
Harney county at any time.
NO. I.
Buyers are swarming in the north
ern counties looking for sheep of
any kind. Only recently, it will
be remembered Allen & Lafollet of
Crook county, sold their entire
band to a Montana firm at a good
pries.
It is reported that O. W. Porter
has purchased the Bowman flock of
sheep, numbering about 5000.—
