CUE INSIDE INN.
At the World’s Fair, St. Louis,
ti e hotel within the grounds is
called the Inside Inn. A visitor
the other day walked up to the
< :sk and asked: “Is this the In
side Inn? And if so is the pro
prietor of the Inside Inn in?
“Yes,” remarked the smart
clerk, with a far away look in his
eyes, “this is the Inside Inn and
you will tind the proprietor out-
sale by the Inn’s side. He has
been keeping the Inn for several
weeks. He tells me that once
when he took an ocean voyage he
couldn’t keep his inside in, but
that was inside information, and
he didn’t intend for it to get out
side.”
“Alright,” said the guest, “if
this is the Inside Inn, we want to
see its inside as well as its outside
before we look inside any of the
outside inns. If we like the In-
si'N* Inn'-inside and outside better
than we like the outside inn’s out
side and inside, we may bring our
things from outside inside and
stop inside the Inside Inn, because
we won’t have to go from the in
side outside or come back from
the outside inside when we’er see
ing the Fair, but can remain in
side or outside the Inside Inn. It
being the only inn inside the
grounds. The other inns are on
the outside and furnish no more
comforts for the guests inside or
outside than does the Inside Inn
with the exhibits close outside the
Inn’s side,—that is the Inside Inn’s
side. In-------------- .”
But the Clerk had fainted and
fallen inside the Inside Inn’s desk,
and bell boys were hurrying with
water for his outside and brandy
for his inside, but in their excite
ment they got that which was
meant forahis inside outside and
that which was for his outside in
side.—Ex.
LIVESTOCK
NOTES,
Brood sows should have atten
tion before farrowing as well as
after.
On the account of them lying
so close together the shelter for
hogs need not be so light as for
other stock.
All animals, when fed heavily,
require a change of food, and this
is especially true in the case of
sheep.
A low knee is desirable in a
horse, enabling the animal to make
a long stride more quickly than
when the knee is set high up.
It is important to remember
that the richness of the food given
stock has much to do with the
value of the manure made from
them.
Care and feed are essential fac
tors in making good stock. It
will not “just grow,” like Topsy,
but must be looked after at every
stage of the game.
Free exercise for hogs develp-
es muscle and frame and adds to
the value of pork. Lack of ex
ercise is the greatest c.f all breed-
diseasers in the case of all kind
of animals, including man himself.
