Call in the City Drug store as
you are passing and see the new
stock.— H. M. Horton proprietor.
The weather continues very
favorable to
growing
crops.
Rain is needed on fields that can
not be irrigated and it would also
benefit the range. Stock now
being gathered are in prime con
dition; however, and stockmen
arc well pleased.
With a large sum in the treas
ury to the credit of the road fund
Harney county should make a
most decided change for the bet
terment of her roads this season.
There is considerable work need
ed in this respect which no doubt
will be looked after by our county
supervisors.
Almost if not all, the wool clip
of Harney county has already
been contracted and considerable
amount lias been delivered. In
every instance the growers have
received a higher price than for
several years. The price of sheep
has not advanced accordingly, but
sheepmen have no cause to com
plain just at pi esent.
The decision reached by the
ta.xpayei s of this school district to
spend as little money as possible
on the present building and shape
the affairs of the district in such a
way ¡is will enable us to build a
larger and more substantial school
house in the near future certainly
was the proper thing to do. The
Times-Herald
hopes
to see
a modern building erected at no
distant date but would not approve
of it at this time.
'Prying to increase trade with-
out advertising is like short step-
ping and^fuming behind a slowly
moving throng on a crowded
street.
Make a double quick
think movement and you find that
you get bey ond the lazy ones and
strike ¡1 “get there” gait. Ad
vertising is the only force that
will carry a business above or be
yond the inertia of “dull times”
ami set for trade a paying pace
that puls adyertisers in the class
of "first under the wire.”—Ex.
While there is every indication
of an enormous hay crop this
season, we learn that on the lower-
land and in the virility of the lakes
high water will prevent cutting
many acres that in recent seasons
have been harvested. The hay
crop in general will be much
larger than the past two seasons,
however, anti that product will
likely be cheap. This shows the
advantage <if a storage reservoir
that would pr« vent the tlood water
finm interfiling with the crops
on the hover lands. People should
study th ' mallei and be ready
at the propel tune to ail co-oper
ate with the government.
A WONDERFUL INVENTION.
