More ‘Magnum’ after all:
NBC saves the series
Q: I’ve heard that “Magnum
P.I.” isn’t being canceled after
all. Is it or isn’t it? – Dick Riker,

A: Let’s say that it’s been “uncanceled,”
thanks to NBC – whose corporate
cousin Universal Television makes the
show – stepping in to save it at just
about the last minute after CBS let the
Jay Hernandez-starring reboot go after
four seasons.
Twenty new episodes have been ordered
(for the time being, at least), and those
will be split between two seasons to give
the Hawaii-set detective drama fifth and
sixth years. Expect Perdita Weeks and
the other cast regulars to be back, too,
since they’re still under the contractual
options that were about to expire when NBC made the pickup deal.
