But visitors must prove
they’re fully vaccinated,
state health agency says
BY SARA CLINE
Associated Press/Report for America
PORTLAND — Officials from the
Oregon Health Authority released up-
dated mask guidelines Tuesday, saying
businesses and churches can choose to
no longer require masks and distancing
for fully vaccinated people, but those
places must have visitors show proof of
vaccination.
In addition, mask requirements are
no longer applied to anyone who is
outdoors, although health officials rec-
ommend that people continue to wear
a mask in crowded areas and in large
gatherings.
“(Last) week’s announcement from
the CDC emphasizes the point that safe
and effective vaccines are the very best
way to protect people from getting and
spreading COVID,” said Patrick Allen,
OHA director, referring to the Centers
123RF
for Disease Control and Prevention.
“That’s why it’s safer for life to look
more like normal for people who are
fully vaccinated. And why people who
haven’t had a chance to get vaccinated
should do so as soon as they can.”
Fully vaccinated people in Oregon
are no longer required to wear a face
mask or physically distance whether
indoors or outdoors, with some ex-
ceptions, two weeks after their final
COVID-19 vaccination dose.
Great Falls Tribune
GREAT FALLS, Mont. — A pickup
truck belonging to a Great Falls
woman who has been missing for
nearly three years was found in the
Missouri River with a body inside it
last week, Cascade County Sheriff Jesse
Slaughter said.
The body has not been identified,
Slaughter told the Great Falls Tribune.
A volunteer organization based in
Redmond that helps remove vehicles
from bodies of water arrived in Great
Falls on May 10 to help search for
Tammy Goff, 59, who went missing in
2018.
Goff’s pickup was located Friday by
the Adventures With Purpose team,
which includes Jared Leisek, Doug
Bishop and Sam Ginn. The team and
the sheriff’s office removed the pickup
from the water.
Slaughter said he would release fur-
ther information Monday or Tuesday.
“Finding Tammy’s truck yester-
day has been a huge milestone,” her
husband, Bob Goff, said in a statement
to ABC Fox Montana on Saturday. “We
do not have confirmation yet of the oc-
cupant. Many other questions still re-
main.”
He thanked the community for sup-
port and prayers and local law enforce-
ment and landowners who allowed
access to their property to conduct the
search.
Tammy Goff was last seen on July 12,
2018, when she left her house with her
German shepherd, Sadie. The dog was
found two days later and had been seen
near the river.
Search and rescue teams searched the
river by foot, air and boat at the time.
In September 2018, an Idaho team
that has been recovering drowning vic-
tims since 1983 searched the river and
found a vehicle in the river near where
Goff’s dog was found. However, it was
a sport utility vehicle that had been re-
ported stolen.
President Joe Biden says the U.S. will
share an additional 20 million doses of
COVID-19 vaccines with the world in the
coming six weeks as domestic demand
for shots drops and global disparities in
distribution have grown more evident.
The doses will come from existing
production of Pfizer, Moderna or John-
son & Johnson vaccine stocks, marking
the first time that U.S.-controlled doses
of vaccines authorized for use in the
country will be shared overseas. It will
boost the global vaccine sharing com-
mitment from the U.S. to 80 million.
The announcement comes on top of
a prior commitment to share about 60
million doses of the AstraZeneca vac-
cine, which is not yet authorized for use
in the U.S., by the end of June.

Jared Leisek, of Redmond, stands in his trailer full of equipment he uses when scuba div-
ing during recovery missions around the country. The Bulletin interviewed Leisek for a
story in March. “It comes down to being able to do something that others cannot and to
give answers to families who would never receive those answers,” he said at the time.

However, health officials say that
fully vaccinated people are still required
to wear a mask while on public trans-
portation and in schools, hospitals and
clinics, homeless shelters, correctional
facilities and long-term care facilities.
In addition, businesses, employers
and faith institutions can choose to
no longer require masks and physical
distancing for fully vaccinated peo-
ple. But they must require proof that
the individual is fully vaccinated and
implement a “policy for checking the
vaccination status of customers and em-
ployees.”
The new guidance comes after the
CDC announced last week that indi-
viduals who are fully vaccinated against
COVID-19 could stop wearing masks
and stop physical distancing in most
public spaces.
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown pointed to
the CDC announcement as “another
sign that as more people become fully
vaccinated, the closer we are to ending
this pandemic.”
