(ORIGINAL) Though drama was her first major calling card in television, Caitlin McGee is pleased to follow it up with comedy. After co-starring as Jimmy Smits’ estranged daughter on the short-lived “Bluff City Law,” the actress is back as one of three siblings in differing financial circumstances on ABC’s new Wednesday sitcom “Home Economics.” Topher Grace – the “That ‘70s Show” alum who’s also an executive producer of the series – and Jimmy Tatro play the other relatives who have money on their minds. “It’s been such a pleasure to be working, especially in the time of COVID,” McGee reflects. “In this show, I’m a very self- serious person, but she does have her lighter moments, I really think finding the humor is just trying to make someone a three- dimensional character.” The friendly McGee plays someone both fictional and a bit biographical, since her “Home Economics” alter ego Sarah is based on the sister of Michael Colton, one of the show’s creators and executive producers. “I think he would say she’s an exaggerated version of his sister,” McGee maintains, “but she’s not really far from myself, either. We have the same principles and the same heart, but a slightly different delivery. Sarah is a little less cushioned when she talks to people.” McGee has found it interesting to build a “sibling” dynamic with fellow “Home Economics” stars Grace and Tatro: “It’s certainly “Movie: The Judge” Robert Downey Jr. does an effective job in this 2014 drama as a cocky attorney who has a tense homecoming. After his mother’s funeral, he represents his estranged father (Robert Duvall), the title judge who is suspected in the hit- and-run death of a defendant he let off with a relatively light sentence, who then killed a teenager. Vera Farmiga and Vincent D’Onofrio also star. easier now than it was on the pilot. Because of COVID, we weren’t able to go out and have lunches or dinners, so we had to learn to be super-familiar with one another on the fly.
