Sunriver Music Festival to return
Organizers of the Sunriver Music Festival an-
nounced Wednesday the return of the classical
music festival Aug. 14-23.
Sunriver Music Festival’s 44th season will take
place outside with limited seating capacity.
Maestros Brett Mitchell and Kelly Kuo, the two
finalists for the artistic director position vacated
by George Hanson, will lead the world-class Fes-
tival Orchestra, with Classical Concert I set to kick
things off Aug. 14 in the Sunriver SHARC Amphi-
theatre. The remaining concerts will be at Sunri-
ver Resort’s Besson Commons. All concerts begin
at 6 p.m.
“We are looking forward to a summer of pow-
erful music and creative resilience,” Executive Di-
rector Meagan Iverson said in the announcement.
“Our board, staff, and volunteers are nimble and
committed to presenting world-class musical
experiences for Central Oregon residents and vis-
itors.”
For now, seating will be limited.
“The comfort and safety of performers and au-
dience is always our high priority. If health guide-
lines change before August, capacity may be in-
creased, but we do expect our limited seating to
sell out quickly,” Iverson said.
Tickets will be available April 1 for Friends of
the Festival, and June 1 for the public. For more

High Desert Museum extends
hours, programs for spring break
Spring Break is next week, and to mark the oc-
casion, the High Desert Museum will offer special
programs and extended hours — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Saturday through March 28.
Museum-goers can catch temporary exhibits
including ”Daredevils,” “Dam It! Beavers and Us”
and the recently opened ”Cosmic Microscapes:
Seeing Into Rocks from Oregon and Space.”
Additionally, wildlife talks will take place hourly
from 10 a.m. daily.
“It will be a special week of vibrant program-
ming and experiences for our visitors,” Executive
Director Dana Whitelaw, said in Monday’s an-
nouncement, noting the fact that the museum
was closed a year ago. “We’re pleased to be able
to offer a safe, inspiring museum experience.”
With limited capacity in compliance with
COVID-19 guidelines and unable to guarantee
walk-in space, the museum strongly urges pa-
trons to reserve timed entry ticket, available at
highdesertmuseum.org/tickets.
