The Russians came here in

22 Hour Flight
The Russians made the trip
from Moscow to this city of 25,'

in London, New York, and
Washington.
The visitors are staying with
Mr. and Mrs. James C. McKen
zie and their five children who
live in a comfortable 11-room 2
story red brick house. In Mos
cow the Pozdneyevs live in a
2-room apartment.
I The temperatures were biting
cold this morning but the com
munity was excited about the
international publicity the city
has received in connection with
the cood-will program.
Following the visit to the
Grant Elementary School this
morning, Pozdneyev, 39, his
wife, and their two children,
were to be honored at a lunch
sponsored by the Chamber of
Commerce, a reception and
news conference this afternoon
and a dance tonight.
The schedule was kept flexi
ble so that the visitors could
have time to visit whatever
they wanted to see Including
the city s steel mill and two
shoe factories, it was an
nounced that they would ac
company the McKenzie family
to church Sunday morning.
They arrived two hours late
Thursday night.

The visitors stepped from the
plane smiling after 22 hours
flying time from Moscow, and
Mrs. Pozdneyev clutched a bou
quet of red roses as she left
the airport. "I'm so happy to
be here at last," she said in
English.
Her air sickness led officials
of the Portsmouth Junior
Chamber of Commerce, spon
sor of the trip, to cancel a
scheduled news conference.
The Pozdneyevs will have the
morning to get better acquaint
ed with the family of James C.
McKenzie, with whom they will
live during their visit. McKen
zie and his son, Phillip, 14, met
their Russian guests at the
John F. Kennedy International
Airport in New York City and
accompanied them here.
McKenzie's wife, Carol, and
two of their five children, were
at the airport. Mrs. McKenzie
said both families would ex
change gifts around the Christ
mas tree on Christmas Day.
The visitors indicated they
would attend religious services
with the McKenzies.
A news conference was
planned this afternoon (at 4
p.m.) to allow the townspeople
and their overseas guests to
meet. They are to visit a jun

dance in their honor tonight.
The McKenzies plan to treat
their guests to a varied Amen
