0 The Bulletin, Thursday, November 21, 1963 Tuesday's mat card offers famed wrestling midgets More professional wrestling is in store for local mat fans. Bend's Nartlonal Guard Arm ory will again be the scene of action. This time Oregon grap ple promoter Elton Owen brings a minute grunt and groan tag match card. Four of the world - famous wrestling midgets will go at it next Tuesday night in a tag af fair. Sky Low Low and Irish Jackie will team up against Billy The Kid and Tiny Tim. These little guys, who weigh in between 90 and 100 pounds, always wow the frns with their fast (and sometimes hilarious) antics. They take their lumps just like the big boys do, and they have the cauliflower ears to prove it. However, the midgets are not billed as the main event. It's popular Nick Kozak vs. giant Soldat Gorky on the main bill., Kozak will match his "great" airplane spin against Gorky's wolf leap and neck breaker. Kozak has wrestled many main events in Houston, Tex., and is rated just as good as Frank Stojack with the airplane spin. He will need his speed and finesse against the big "Russian Bear" Gorky. Luther Lindsey will wear his protective headgear into the ring in the other preliminary. He goes against blond, "dirty" Don Duffy. It will be a semi final. Lindsey is still rated as the greatest Negro wrestler in the country by many experts. He has wrestled Lou Thesz to a draw in Portland. He, how ever, was in a bad automobile wreck a week ago and is just now rounding into shape. Duffy is a tough Irishman, from San Diego. He is the same size as Lindsey. They both weigh in at about 225 pounds. nfciinMiii mini "1 Kitchen Queens League W L Wonder Ease 28V4 15',4 Owl Pharmacy 25 19 Abbott's Richfield .... 22Ms 21 Shakey's - 22 22 Young Equipment .... 22 22 Arctic Circle . 19 25 Cashway Lumber .... Tobin is having a great year in his first try at the AFL. San Diego Coach Sid Gillman calls him "as fine a quarterback as I've been associated with." And that includes such signal callers as Norm Van Brocklin, Bob Waterfield, Jackie Kemp, Bill Wade and Frank Ryan. Gillman adds that he believes Rote is just as good as Y. A. Tittle of the Giants. Most football fans thought note was through when he played out his option for Detroit in 1960. But Rote went on to play Canadian ball and then to the AFL. He led the Canadian loop in passing in 1960 and '61 and now leads the AFL in yards per pass and percentage. Blanda is now in his 14th sea son as a pro. He came to the uners in 1060 alter being the highest scoring player in Chi cago Bear history. He holds many AFL records and is cur rently third in league passing.
