shuns stand on
tax referendum
PORTLAND (UPI) -The House
of Delegates of the Oregon Medi
cal Society last week refused to en
dorse the legislature's $60 million
revenue increase which faces a
referendum Oct. IS.
A resolutions committee recom
mendation that the society sup
port the ballot measure died
when members decided to take no
stand.
Dr. WUiiam Scott, chairman of
the resolutions committee, said
the majority report issued by his
group reflected some displeasure
with the tax program, but con
sidered the situation would be
come even more chaotic if the
measure were defeated.
The society refused even to go
along with that stand.
