Community Concert
Association will hold its annual
membership drive beginning Oct.
15. It was decided at a recent
planning and election meeting of
the group.
"Dr. Evan Jones was named as
president for the coming year.
Other officers are Mrs. Roy John
son, vice president: Dick Hoppcs,
second vice president; Darrel
Wtight, Madras, third vice presi
dent: Mrs. Joe Lehmberg, secre
tary; Mrs. M. D. Barney, treasu-
rer: Mrs. Doris Donnelly, publici
ty chairman; Mrs. Ed Van Wink
le, dinner chairman.
Hoppes was named to head the
membership drive. Membership
In the group brings admission to
six concerts during the season,
with three held in Prinevllle and
three In Bend.

Dr. Donald Smith as Oregon De
partment of Agriculture veterin
arian assigned to the Bend area
and serving Deschutes, Jefferson
and Lako Counties.

area in August, l2, after serv
ice with the U. S. Air Force, left
June 24 to take a position with
the radiological survey unit of
the U. S. Public Health Service
at, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dr. Naylor came to Bend from
Hie Dalles. He has been area
veterinarian at Hie Dalles for the
department since December, 1062,
serving Wasco, Mood River, Sher
man and Gilliam Counties. For
the present he will nh-o continue
to serve these counties through
an arrangement with tho county
agent's office at Tho Dalles.

of Agriculture, Dr. Naylor was In
private veterinary practice rt
Anchorage, Alaska, and before
that practiced in Texas.

but a $24,000 building fund now on
hand would be utilized in the con

tation from the joint commission
on accreditation nf hospitals in
Chicago, for the first time in its
decade of operation. It was stated
at the time by the association thai

address Demos
State Senator Boyd Overhulse
of Madras will address members
of the executive committee of the
Party at 8 p.m. Friday at the
Superior Cafe in Bend.
His topic will center around the
proposed referral of the $60,000,-
000 tax package passed by the
1963 legislature.
Dr. Orde S. Plnckney, chair
man of the executive committee,
said that the group would prob
ably make a recommendation in
connection with the proposed cir
culation of petitions on the mat
ter.
All central committee members
have been asked to attend the ses
sion which will also be open to
the public. The Friday meeting
will replace the usual monthly
central committee session that
was to have been held Sunday.
TWO YOUTHS HELD
Two 14-year-old Bend boys were
held in custody by city police
Tuesday and later released to
their parents, after being charged
with petty larceny of a local drug
store and entering the senior high
school.

mayor of Idanlia, Oregon. Davis
