Prineville Reservoir is good for
rainbow trout over 12 inches by
trolling. Bank angling has been
slow. Haystack Reservoir is good
for small trout
Pelton Reservoir is good for
seven to 10-inch trout on troll.
Larger Dolly Varden and German
brown trout have been taken by
still fishing with bait at the upper
end of the reservoir. Walton Lake
has been producing fair to good
catches for fly fishermen.
At Cove State Park and in the
Warm Springs area, the Des
chutes River has been fair to
good for 10-inch trout. The Crook
ed River above and below Prine
ville Reservoir is muddy, and
fishing is slow.
In the Bend District, the game
commission announced that Die

At Paulina Lake, angler suc
cess varied from poor to fair on
opening weekend. Catch has im
proved. Still fishing with single
eggs has been producing the best
results.
Fishermen at Big Lava Lake
have been producing good catches
of eastern brook on slow troll with
spinner and worms. The use of
hammered brass spinning lures
has been producing well.
At Elk Lake, still fishing with
worms for kokanee has been
good. Fishing at Crane, Prairie
Reservoir has slowed somewhat.
Still good catches of rainbow, ko
kanee and eastern brook have
been reported. The Cultus River
channel has been the best produc
ing area for bait (worms) or
brass spinning lures.
Wickiup Reservoir continues
good for kokanee still fishing with
bait. Brown trout success has
been fair on troll in shallow wa
ter using lures (nbalone). North
Twin Lake should be fair to good
for rainbow. Best results have
been on slow, deep trolling. '
South Twin Lake continues
with fair to good catches on bait
or troll. The Melolius River is
steadily improving in the fly area.
Blue Lake is good for rainbow
and small kokanee. The best
method here is still fishing with
orange salmon eggs, but trolling
with small Wonder lures was also
producing good catches. The Des
chutes River above Bend was
good on troll or bait.
Ends Saturday! WILLIAMS
Close games mark Wednesday
play in Bend Little Leagues
Two narrow victories and a lop
sided one marked Wednesday's
play of the Bend Little Leagues.
Paced by Dave Brumbaugh and
Boyd Bolton, the Dairy Queen
nine squeezed out a 8-6 win over
Medo-Land in the American Lea
gue at Harmon Field.
Brumbaugh batted a perfect
1.000 when he went three for three
at the plate, and Bolton was as
good when he got two hits in two
trips to the plate.
Dairy Queen broke loose for
three tallies ai the first, four in
the second, one in the fourth, and
then hung on desperately while
Medo-Land scored five in its half
of the sixth to all but overtake
the victors.
Don Houck started out on the
mound for the Dairy Queen but
traded places with third base
man, Brumbaugh, who finished
out the game. The switch was
made during that hot Medo-Land
sixth frame.
Larry Nicholson paced the los
ers, going two hits in four trips
to bat.
Over at Juniper Park in the
Cascade League, Shoop and
Schulze could not push across the
tying ran in the last inning, and
dropped a hot 7-6 tilt to Mil
ler s.
Miller's winning effort was aid
ed by the batting efforts of Toby
Adams, Billy Carroll and Kevin
Rea. Gary Geser went three for
three in the batter's box to pace
the losers. Teammate Steve Kiel
contributed a two-for-two effort.
Four of Miller's tallies were
scored in a torrid second inning
on two hits, one of which was a
homerun by Kevin Rea. He hit
another In the fifth.
Billy Carrol started out on the
hill for Miller's and gained the
victory. Des Triplett went the
distance for Shoop and Schulze
and was credited with the loss.
Over at Marshall Field, how
ever, the game was decided in
the first two innings.
Lelco tallied one in the first
and then exploded for four runs
in the second to soar ahead of
Cascade Gas 10-1. Lelco's Nation
al League win was an all-out
team effort at the plate. Third
baseman Tom Tyler led the pack,
going two for two.
Cascade Gas found the going
rough, but left tosser Carl Sell on
the mound for the entire contest.
Cascade Gas' lone run crossed
the plate when a lad by the name
of Currie stole home. He got
aboard when the Lelco short stop
bobbled the ball.
