trustees wore authorized to purchafo
the two lots nt the corner of Kansas
and Uond streets on which thu church
bus held tin option for some muntha.

When L. L. Foox. last to file for
the primaries when the county clerk's
books closed last week, seeks tlH
nomination of tho republican party
for the offlco of county treasurer, It
will not be his first appearance in
public life, for during his earlier
reldenco in Missouri, he was promt
nent In party activities. Under Prcs
Ident Harrison, Mr. Fox was appoint
ed postmaster of Jasper, In Jasper
county, hervlng in that capacity foi
four years. In 1593, ho received the
republican nomination for treasurer,
and In splto of tho tact that the
county was strongly democratic, he
lacked only ono voto of election.
His ability in bookkeeping work is
vouched for by tho fact that ho was
for three years superintendent of the
business department of an eastern
business college. Previous to his ap
pointment as postmaster ho was en
gaged for two. years lu tho hardware
business.
