In tho Went and nftor nil hnvo select
ed their winning team tho two cham
pion tenmn will meet to debute for
tho championship of tho state. Thero
mo many advantages In this new
method of debnto over tho old ono
heretofore UHcd.
Tho flrat advantage Is that tho
now plan will longthon thn period
for district contents, thutt permitting
more thorough preparation.
Tho second ndvantngo Is that It
will permit district dlroctora, whoro
they may find It expedient to do so,
to work out a percentage rather
than a straight elimination achodulo
for tba district contests. In this way
a team will have still other chances
of debating even If It Is defeated In
tho first round.
A third advantage In that It will
docreaso very materially, tho unbear
able expense hitherto Imposed on the
district winners In tho bringing of
opponontn groat distances to meet
them in ono contest nftor another.
Tho expenses of Judges will also bo
eliminated.
Fourth Small schools will bo en
couraged, alnco there will bo twelve
prizes Instead of ono.
Fifth Tho sometlmcfl, unfortu
unto disagreements between oppos
ing school over tho plnco, Judges,
oxpenses, etc.. will bo nbsent.
Finally, this plan will result In tho
direct focussing of suHtnluod and
accumulated interest In ' tho first
grand tournament. Interost will bo
intensified na tho series progresses
and tho fltipenso grown. Thin con
centrated lutercflt from nil ovor tho
