WILL BUY SULPHUR
FOR FARM PURPOSES
County AKrlciilliiriNt AkUh That Or-
lent Ho I'lacctl Promptly to
Make Up Shipment.
In nn open letter to the farmers
of Deschutes and Crook counties,
ARrlculturnl Agent It. A. Ward urges
tho ImmisJIato placing of orders for
sulphur lor fertilizing purposes. He
writes as follows:
"Ono hundred nnd eighty-three of
our ppoplo participated In tho com
munity sulphur shipments, but this
Is evidently not tho cntlro number
ol farmers who deslro to uso sulphur,
Judging from the number of letters
wo nro receiving nt this offlco urg
ing us to mnko nnother shipment.
After giving tho matter carerul con
sideration, wo hnvo decided to open
nnother order ror nt leost ono enr-
load. Wo hnvo tho nssurnnco or tho
manufacturers that wo will get tho
snmo prlco us formerly, provided wo
can usriomblo n CO. 000 pound order.
As wo hnvo previously nd vised you,
this Is n special prlco that has been
made to us In order to encourage
tho uso of sulphur ror fertilizing
purposes.
"Thoro In no longer nny question
concerning tho vnluo of the fertilizer.
Perhaps tho best slnglo demonstra
tion is that which has just completed
Its second your on tho ranch of M. H.
Landea nt Redmond. On tho plot to
which sulphur was applied two years
ago tho total yield of hay this year
amounted to 4.3 tons per acre, as
compared with tho yield of 1.S7 tons
on tho ncro check plot.
"This order will bo handled In
tho snmo mnnnor as tho provlous or
ders, nnd every farmer contemplat
ing tho uso or sulphur during tho
next two or throo years Is urged to
take part In this shipment.
This will positively be tho last
community carload or sulphur which
wo will order this year, as It is
doubtful If thoro will bo enough
farmors loft In tho county needing
sulphur to mnko up the required
amount ror u carload. As far as Is
known now, this order will closo Do
combor lSth, so orders must bo ro

"Further Information on this sub
ject can bo had by writing tho county
