havo been divided into Monday,
Wednesday and Friday. This deci
sion wa arrived at duflng the regu
lar weekly' meeting of the militia
members last night.
Because tho daylight is becoming
shorter each day, It has also been
urranged to set tho tlmo of drill
ahead ono-half hour, tho companies
being called for 7 o'clock now in
stead of 7:30 as In the past.

This registration card will then be
given to tho man registering, with
instructions to mall It without delay

roach tho board by registration day.
This is very important, for tho bur
den is on tho registrant of seeing that
his homo local board receives the
card by registration day.
Ho is not registered until his homo
local board does reccivo his card.
When mailing tho card, tho regis
trant should cncloso a self-addressed
and stamped envelope for tho return
to him of a registration certificate.

telegram from him stating that ho
desired to appeal from tho decision
of tho board placing him In class la
nnd that affidavits wore being sout
by mall.
lllllups was arrested In Portland
rocontly after having evaded tho ef
fort of tho local board to find him
for soveral weeks. Following the
custom adopted by tho war depart
ment for draft evadors, as soon us
lllllups was found ho was placod In
class la and ordered to report on
tho call for men for Camp Lewis,
Soptomber 5. It is from this order
that ho Is now nppeallng to tho local
board. There Is, however, little hope
tor him from thnt sourco, ns tho
members aro still of tho opinion that
It was not necessary for lllllups to
hldo his placo of rosldonco or change
his name, which It Is claimed ho did,
it ho desired to abide by tho ruling
of tho war department.

peach, apricot and cherry pits and
all kinds of nut shells, which aru
being used by tho government In the
manufacture of carbeu for gas
masks.
An urgent call for this material
has boon sent out to tho various In
dustrial club heads throughout tho
state asking thnt those pits be gath
ered, the statemont adding that thu
carbon necessary for gas masks can
only be obtained from this material.
J, Alton Thompson, superintendent
of schools, who has tho work in
charge In this county, Is making a
special appeal to the boys and girls
of the county to save those pltt.

Individuals not connected with the
club aro' requested to gather and
save as far as possible This Is tho
canning season for peaches and prac
tically every homo will have a quan
tity of theso pits. If tho boys and
