A total of 10,000 pound of nulphur
was nlgtii'd for on August 10 and
many other alfalfa grower have re-
iucstud Hiilphur club order blank,
which have bonn sent thorn.
Momhorn of thn club pgreo to pur
chase and apply sulphur to a glvon
number of acres of their alfalfa Hold,
compare tho result with tho untreat
ed fields and report tho results to the
county agent.
On account of tho many field trials
with sulphur that have already boon
completed, a largo proportion of tho
alfalfa grower are planning on ap
plying Hiilphur to every aero of al
falfa they possess. Sovcn conclusive
experiments completed to date have
shown Increased yield of hay from
tho use of sulphur ranging from 00
to HO per cent, Whero compared
to thu uio of land plaster a un al
falfa fertilizer, thu sulphur experi
ments completed show an Increase
ranging from 33 to CO per cent. At
Tumalo un experiment testing out
thl year' land plaster on August 9
against last year' sulphur applica
tion was weighed up.
Thn owner, J. W Ilrown, applied
sulphur to the sulphur plot In tho
early aprlivg of 1917, nothing being
applied during tho present year. Ho
applied CO pound of land plaster to
tho land plaster plot again during
tho prosonl season of 1918 Tho
weight of tho second cutting for thl
year after deducting 2& per cont. In
weight for shrinkage, am us follows:
On tho land plaster plot 3,330
pounds of hay and on thu sulphur
plot 4,300 pounds of hay woro har
vested, or an Increaso of 1,000
pound of hay In favor of tho sul
phur. Figuring tho cost of land
