H. E. Vincent of the Deschutes for
est office and H. R. Vincent, until
recently of Rosoburg, met yestorday
morning. Tho two men aro cousins.
Tho meeting carao about when Mr.
Vincent of Roscburg went into a
local bank to transact business. The
signature caused tho bank employees
to remark that there was another
Vincent in tho city of the same name,
and tho meeting followed. Ho has

turf has boon accepted into the of
ficers' training school for civilians at
the University of Oregon, comrnenc
'Jng June 24, according to a telegram
received by ulm this' morning from
P. L. Campbell, president of the uni
versity. This appointment to the
camp came to Mr. Overturf after It
liad been stated that more than
1,200 men had made applications to
the camp, with accommodations for
only J 50.
Has Son Prisoner. Mrs. Hart,
-who with her husband are guests at

mond, was a visitor in Rend yester
day. Mr. and Mrs. Hart have but
recently como to America from Eng
land, their homo, and will remain

Mr. Irvlno Returns. D. F. Irvine,
editor of tho Oregon Journal, came
in last night from Lakevlew, where
he was tho chief speaker at a Liberty
loan celebration on Saturday, and
left on the ovoning train for Port
land. Ho was accompanied by Shurlff
Snyder of Lako county, who wont to
Portland with him.
